Rocio ORTIZ-LÓPEZ
Monterrey, Mexico
Chemistry-Pharmacy graduated from the Universidad Veracruzana (Jalapa, Veracrúz, México). Dr. Ortiz received the M.Sc. and D.Sc. in Molecular Biology from the Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon (UANL, Monterrey, México). A training program in Molecular Biology at Pediatric Cardiology Department, Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, TX.
Dr. Ortiz is a full-time research professor at the School of Medicine and Health Sciences, at Tecnologico de Monterrey, and leads the oriGen Biorepository (a 100,000 Mexican Biobank). She is a Senior Researcher (Level 3) of the National Council of Science and Technology of Mexico, Member of the Mexican Academy of Sciences (AMC), the Mexican Society of Human Genetics (AMGH), the National Academy of Medicine of Mexico (ANMM), the American Society of Human Genetics (ASHG), and the Pharmacogenomics Research Network (PGRN). Her research work is directed to 1) Implementation of Precision Medicine strategies for complex diseases 2) Family studies based on determining genetic and environmental interactions in the development of obesity 3) Studies to evaluate the molecular association pathways between obesity and different types of cancers. 4) Understanding the mechanisms associated with longevity and the development of cancer.
