Dr. Avansini is a neuroscientist and coordinator of Stem Cell Laboratory of Brazilian Center for Research in Energy and Materials. She obtained her M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Neuroscience at University of Campinas (UNICAMP), Brazil and completed her post-doctoral research at the University of California San Diego (UCSD), USA. She works in the field of epilepsy and neurodevelopmental diseases, using genetics, molecular biology, and stem cells cultures. Her interdisciplinary approaches extend to malformations of cortical development, microRNAs, electrophysiology, induced pluripotent stem cells, and neural organoid-based disease modeling.
