José Elías GARCÍA-ORTÍZ

Dr. García-Ortiz is a physician, biomedical researcher and professor of Medical Genetics and head of the laboratory of Biochemical Diagnosis of Lysosomal Disorders at the division of Genetics of the Western Biomedical Research Center of the Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social, at Guadalajara, México. He obtained his M.D. degree at the Universidad Autónoma de Coahuila, followed by a M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Human Genetics at the Universidad de Guadalajara in México and a postdoctoral fellowship in the laboratory of Genetics at the National Institute on Ageing- NIH in USA. He works in the clinical and biochemical diagnosis of lysosomal disorders, research in rare diseases as well as female infertility. Dr. García-Ortiz is past president of the Mexican Society of Human Genetics (AMGH) and current president of the Latinoamerican Network of Human Genetics (RELAGH).
